Air conditioning disinfection in a Porsche
Sometimes the problem is noticeable right away. You switch on the air conditioner and a foreign smell appears inside the cabin. In Porsche vehicles this happens more often than it may seem, especially in the heat and humidity of Dubai. During operation, moisture accumulates on the evaporator surface, and along with it bacteria and mold. Over time, they begin to affect not only the smell but also the air quality. At the PRO.CTO service center, we view air conditioning disinfection not as a cosmetic procedure, but as full-fledged technical maintenance. It helps the system operate steadily, without unnecessary load and without harming the health of the driver and passengers.
How we perform air conditioning disinfection
First, we assess the condition of the system. Not all air conditioners are contaminated in the same way, and this is important to take into account. Sometimes the smell appears only after long parking, and sometimes it is constant. We check the intensity of the odor, fan operation, the condition of the cabin filter, and the system’s response after startup. Even at this stage, it becomes clear whether preventive treatment is sufficient or deeper cleaning is required.
1. Chemical disinfection. Used for light or moderate contamination. Certified compounds are applied that eliminate bacteria and fungi on the evaporator surface and inside the air ducts, without leaving a sharp odor after the procedure. Suitable for regular maintenance.
2. Ultrasonic treatment. The disinfectant is sprayed as a fine mist and passes through all air ducts. This method allows treatment of hard-to-reach areas that cannot be accessed by conventional means and works well under urban driving conditions.
3. Combined approach. Used if the odor persists for a long time or returns after standard treatment. Ultrasonic processing is combined with targeted application of the agent through a spray gun for thorough treatment of problem areas without dismantling the interior.
4. Mechanical cleaning. Used less frequently, in cases of long-term neglect of maintenance. It involves partial access to ventilation components to remove accumulated deposits.
After any method, we usually recommend replacing the cabin filter. This is not a formality, but a way to secure the result and reduce the risk of the odor returning quickly.
Why this is especially important for Porsche
The air conditioning system in a Porsche operates precisely and responds quickly to load changes, but for this very reason it is sensitive to contamination. When the evaporator surface is covered with bacterial buildup, airflow becomes restricted, cooling efficiency decreases, and the fan begins to work more intensively. This creates additional load on the components and affects overall comfort. At the same time, contaminated air does not always have a strong smell - sometimes it simply feels heavy, causing fatigue or discomfort during driving. After disinfection, the difference is noticeable almost immediately: the air becomes neutral, the system runs more smoothly, and the air conditioner stops affecting other electronic modules. Essentially, this is exactly how a system in this class of vehicle should operate.
When to contact us and where to find us
Air conditioning disinfection should be performed twice a year - usually in spring and autumn - as well as when foreign odors appear or after a long break in system operation. The procedure takes on average up to 20 minutes and does not require dismantling the dashboard. We work by appointment, select the optimal cleaning method, and explain the system’s condition to the client after service.
