Freshness in the cabin: professional disinfection of a Lamborghini air conditioning system

When you get into a Lamborghini, you expect perfection in everything. The sound of the engine, the leather of the seats, the response of the accelerator pedal — everything works as a single mechanism. But we often forget about what is hidden behind the air vents. The air conditioning system is the lungs of your car. And over time, dust, moisture, and bacteria accumulate in these “lungs.” A musty or chemical smell when the climate system is turned on is the first warning sign. At PRO.CTO, we know how to restore true cleanliness to your vehicle without using aggressive chemicals that may harm the interior. We are located in Dubai, in Al Quoz Industrial Area 4 at 3 Street 17, and specialize in technically complex tasks for premium brands. Today, we will explain how the disinfection of the cooling system is carried out in Italian supercars.
Why standard cleaning does not work: comprehensive evaporator disinfection at PRO.CTO
Most car owners believe that the problem is solved by replacing the cabin filter. This is important, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. The main enemy of cleanliness is the evaporator. It is located deep under the dashboard and constantly interacts with air and condensation. If the bacterial buildup on it is not eliminated, the odor will return within a few days. In the hot climate of Dubai, moisture in the system evaporates quickly but leaves behind mineral deposits and organic residue. At PRO.CTO, we have developed an algorithm that addresses all stages of contamination. Here is how we work on your Lamborghini:
1. Initial diagnostics and air microscopy. We do not begin work blindly. Using an endoscope and a particle analyzer, we determine the level of evaporator contamination. This allows us to select the correct reagents, as the plastic and aluminum in Lamborghini require a delicate approach.
2. Removal of protective panels and access to the unit. In Italian vehicles, engineers place the climate unit compactly. We use specialized tools that allow access to the evaporator without disassembling half of the interior, preserving the factory assembly.
3. Ozonation before cleaning. The first stage is treatment of the interior space with dry ozone. It penetrates the smallest gaps and destroys surface mold spores. This acts as preparation, loosening contaminants before the main stage.
4. Chemical foam cleaning of the evaporator. We use water-based active foam reagents. They are applied to the evaporator radiator through a drainage or service opening. The foam expands, fills all cavities, and pushes contaminants outward. It does not contain acids that could damage delicate components.
5. Flushing the drainage system. Water and chemical residues must drain freely. We check the drainage tubes to prevent water stagnation in the future, as this leads to bacterial regrowth.
6. Final antibacterial treatment with a steam generator. The final stage is treatment with high-temperature dry steam. This removes remaining organic matter and eliminates chemical odors, leaving only a neutral freshness.
7. Cabin filter replacement and test drive. After reassembly, we start the engine and test the climate system in all modes to ensure there are no unusual noises or odors.
This sequence ensures that the problem is resolved for a long time, rather than masked with a fragrance.
When disinfection becomes necessary: obvious and hidden signs
Drivers often ignore odors until they become strong. However, the air conditioning system gives signals much earlier. The first symptom is a characteristic sour smell immediately after starting the fan. The second is the appearance of an oily film on the inside of the windshield, which is difficult to remove with a regular cloth. It is also worth paying attention to cooling efficiency: if a car in Dubai takes more than 10 minutes to cool down in the heat, the evaporator may be clogged with a layer of dust acting as insulation. Ignoring these signs leads to reduced compressor lifespan and costly repairs. At the same time, timely intervention is significantly cheaper and takes only a few hours. In conditions of urban traffic and sandstorms typical for the UAE, this procedure is recommended at least once a year.
How we work in Al Quoz: booking, timing, and additional services at PRO.CTO
The disinfection process at our technical center PRO.CTO does not interfere with your daily routine. The average service time ranges from 3 to 5 hours depending on the Lamborghini model (Urus, Huracán, or Aventador have different climate unit layouts). You can leave your car before lunch and pick it up fully ready in the evening. We operate by appointment to avoid queues and provide individual attention to each client. In addition to disinfection, we always check refrigerant levels, system pressure, and connection tightness. If you notice that the air conditioning is not cold enough, we can perform full diagnostics and system refilling on-site. You can book a service or consult with our specialist by phone: +971 50 104 8222. We are located near major highways, making it easy to reach us from any area of Dubai.
